Wonodadi - flooding in karst | Indonesian Caves Life
This is quite surprising news came from Mound Hamlet, Village Pracimantoro Wonodadi in Solo, Central Java. Pracimantoro is part of Central Java is located in the mountain range known as the Karst sewu Gunungsewu.
Wonodadi reports of flooding is quite rare, due to several reasons such as previously put forward. Flooding in Wonodadi as reported several online news sites at least 9 homes were submerged. One of the houses even just look urgency only.
Floods are quite strange and rare hit Wonodadi ro6 since Sunday (March 4, 2012) and until Wednesday (March 7) reported still not subsided, while still flushed with torrential rain as reported by RHMFM.
So why this could occur in areas that have never flooded before? Given that, in the flowing river is not much surface is of course in the event of flooding will be the question why.
If there is a narrowing hallway cave, so hay can not go past this certainly needs to be addressed when the next dry season, for example by taking hay trapped.
The reason is of course quite reasonable but there must be an explanation what caused the water meluaap, is there a hall collapsed cave, or there is a cave passage is clogged due to sedimentation in the cave?
This would never happen in Cave Bribin, wherein when the earthquake in Yogyakarta, 2006 there were parts of the hall had collapsed cave Bribin that stem river and cause the dam construction was interrupted.
If indeed, there was an earthquake that could potentially lead to the hallway to collapse, meaning there should be heavy enough effort to remove this debris. Because, if there are no actions to move to rock, of course this can clog the hallways cave permanently, and will always come flooding every rainy season.
But clearly, ro6 the blockage ro6 due to the collapsed cave passage is more worrisome than the straw blockage. Blockages rotted straw will time, but the hall collapsed due to blockage, if allowed to continue the process of "ornamenisasi" or by gluing pieces of stone can be more difficult if left for a long time.
To answer and find the exact cause of the latticework that occurred in Mound Hamlet, Village Pracimantoro Wonodadi this required the involvement of the cave crawlers are numerous in Jogjakarta and Solo even Wonosari.
In this case, searchers cave very important role, since they have the ability to caving with adequate safety equipment, as well as the ability to pass through narrow hallways and muddy that may also be its advantage.
Luweng not trash, but rather a place where the life source of water taken many sourced from an underground river that flows in Luweng-Luweng Gunungsewu spread across the region.
Cope with flooding due to overflowing rivers ro6 underground river is harder than the surface, because the cause and which the obstruction is not easily identifiable. Thus, the role of the cave crawler (caver) ro6 in this case is very huge to anticipate flood disaster which could happen anytime.
