Kalacemeti of South Malang (Arachnida: Amblypygi) | Caves Indonesian Life
South Malang into new areas of scientific for me, although there are some examples of cave animals have in my collection. However, there are still many things that I can not answer before I trace Malang.
From what I learned at this time, there is an appealing ultrafilter picture of the distribution kalacemeti in Java, where there are three genera are known from this island that is Stygophrynus, Charon and Sarax derived from two families that Charontidae and Charinidae.
Of west Java in Ujung Kulon Stygophrynus clan scattered to the northeast in Tuban, while Charon clan of the cave is found only in Gunungsewu to the east and north to Malang and Tuban.
Question I went to Malang sebelumn ultrafilter is there any clan Stygophrynus in South Malang until Banyuwangi to there? Because, Stygoprhynus far only found in Jonggrangan Menoreh Mountains, Grobogan and Tuban.
While the clan Sarax, based on body size and leg length, type Sarax is very different from previously known types in Java are Sarax javensis and Sarax sarawakensis which have relatively smaller size and life on the floor of a cave under a rock or weathered wood.
Meanwhile ultrafilter in Malang, openly many types of these are found on cave walls in one of the caves to the Cave Siem, in an area of about 2 x 2 m was found almost 7-8 individuals kalacemeti that one of them was seen carrying ultrafilter puppies in the back of his stomach.
While this type of Charon was discovered in Gua Lo-Bang along with Sarax, and this species is not found in the Cave Lowo and look there in the high roof of the cave near the mouth of the cave at Cave Siem so that the collected.
In Gua Lo-Bang, some remnants of individual ultrafilter Charon was discovered ultrafilter in the hallway cave, the remains can still be used to know from what clan and the possibility of any type based on key characters that exist in the legs.
Judging from the size and appearance Sarax clan found in Malang, the possibility of this type is a new type that until now only found in Malang. The appearance of a similar kind ever found on the island of Madura, but I'm sure this type is very different and very likely a new species.
In Java, there are currently only two known species and genera Sarax both found living in a cave and outside the cave. While the types of Malang, long legs and antennae from, it seems they have quite adjust to living in caves. ultrafilter
